"Buon Viaggio"

January, 2012

"Buon giorno", to all those interested in the heritage of San Carlo Borromeo and the Rito Ambrosiano.

Italy is synonymous with the Catholic Church with its rich history. The history of the Diocese of Milan, which also comprises a portion of southern Switzerland, has its own particular segment. It includes Saint Charles Borromeo, Saint Ambrose, two of its early archbishops, and a liturgy originating in the 3rd century referred to as the Rito Ambrosiano, or Milanese rite. This tour allows you an encounter with each of them and the influence of one on the other. In doing so we will also enjoy the "essence" of Italy: its people, its food, and its landscape. Whether it's the sacred nature of the Sacro Monte near Varese, the grandiose architecture of the Cathedral of Milan, the sparkle of Lago Maggiore, Lago Lugano, or Lago di Lario (better known as Lake Como), with the Alps as their background, or the "mysteries" embedded in the Milanese rite, this experience will remain etched in your memory.

The itinerary above is a detailed outline of the tour. It is meant to give you an picture of what you will experience. One of the most important qualities which distinguishes an ALC Adventure from other travel experiences is our commitment to satisfy as many of those in the group for as much of the time as is possible. If you or your travel companion don't see something you would like to have added, let us know and we'll see whether we can accommodate your wishes, even if it happens during the tour.

The cost of the eleven-day, nine night tour is $2595* per person, double occupancy. While finances and the final tour cost are always a factor, we have carefully considered all aspects of this itinerary so as to make the best use of your time. Even though it is tempting to choose the least expensive accommodations, ALC's belief is that it is far more important to optimize the value of both your time and your money spent during the tour. Centrally located hotels allow more freedom and less "in city" travel time, not to mention the convenience of the opportunity of a quick nap!

If there are any of you who might wish to extend your Adventure to visit Rome or Assisi, ALC can provide you with an itinerary and accommodations at an additional cost.

If there is anything you need to discuss or inquire about, send me an e-mail at info@AdventuresinLanguage.com or contact me at 800-284-0252. In the meantime we sincerely hope this "preview" will better help you to make your decision..

Best regards,

Calvin Hooker, Director
